[Feature]: Protect GM view of a Campaign File.
Describe the Problem
Occasionally, we get users (GMs) that can't host a game. So they have to share the campaign file with a PLAYER who will start a server that the GM will log into (as a GM). The downside of this is that the PLAYER gets access to the campaign file and can snoop around or accidentally see stuff before they are designated a PLAYER after starting the server. That is not ideal.
The Solution you'd like
There are a lot of possible ways to handle this, so this FREQ is as much an invitation for options as a suggestion.
This suggestion tries to use existing features (primarily GM Password and Show as Player):
- Have a way to preset the
GM Passwordin the campaign file. - If
GM Passwordis set:
- Lock the view of the campaign into
Show as Player. Only allow toggling off with a prompt for theGM Password. - In the
Start Serverdialog, if the correctGM Passwordis not entered, have the role selection default toPlayerso that only the user that knows theGM Passwordcan log into the campaign as a GM.
Alternatives that you've considered.

Additional Context
This would double as a kind of "soft" campaign password protection.
