[Feature]: Clean up token popup menu

Open kwvanderlinde opened this issue 8 months ago • 3 comments

Describe the Problem

When right-clicking a token, the menu that comes up is very long. It's a lot of options for a user to dig through and find what they're looking for, and on smaller screens it takes up a significant amount of the height.

The Solution you'd like

Related menu items would be grouped together, and unnecessary or seldom used options would be removed.

At least the following should be done, but more could be on the table:

  • Combine facing options into a submenu ("Set Facing", "Clear Facing").
  • Remove "Add to Initiative" option (there is a redundant "Add" option under "Initiative" already)
  • Combine configuration-type stuff into a submenu ("Flip", "Snap to Grid", "Visible to players", "Visible over FoW")
  • Combine pathing options ("Show Path", "Revert Last Move")

Alternatives that you've considered.

No response

Additional Context

This is the current menu: Image

In the standard Windows 11 context menu Cut/Copy/Delete is in-line in a header/footer element.

With icons it would save a line. Two lines without.

I've been playing with implementing a radial context menu. It has definite advantages. What do you think?

Funny.

I literally just got an email yesterday from Fantasy Grounds about them rolling out an Update to their UI... converting from the token radial menus that they've had for ages to... drum roll... a Standard Context Menu!

Neither will make everyone happy.

That said, I think I might like it. Any chance we could give users a choice between standard context or radial in preferences?
