Feature Request

I am trying to test MapTool 1.12.0 Beta 3 compatibility with *.cmpgn files created by earlier MapTool versions.

Problem is that I'm not sure what MapTool version created those files.

I would like MapTool to indicate in the Chat window or popup dialog what MapTool version saved that *.cmpgn file.

This information is also useful in case we do NOT want to save that *.cmpgn file on top of the existing *.cmpgn file created with the earlier MapTool version.

The Solution you'd like

Display the MapTool vesion that was used to save the *.cmpgn file being "opened" (i.e. loaded) in the MapTool version currently being used.

This information can be displayed in anyway that is convenient. Some ideas are:

  1. Display as a chat message in the Chat window.
  2. Display as a message in a popup dialog.
  3. Display in the titlebar of MapTool.

Alternatives that you've considered.

Trying to open the *.cmpgn file using an older MapTool version, which always complains that we're trying to open a file from a newer MapTool version AND it tells us which version of MapTool was used to create the file -- but it's not convenient to install earlier MapTool versions that we're not using anymore.

This information appears to be stored in the "properties.xml" file for the *.cmpgn file.
