Describe the bug On Windows, in a case of username that contains non-ascii character (such as Japanese Kanji), MapTool is not started.

To Reproduce

  1. On Windows, creating new account named 'たろう'.
    # 'たろう' is a common given name in Japan.
    # Userprofile directory will be named 'C:\Users\たろう'
  2. Installing MapTool v1.5.8 using '.exe' version installer downloaded from RPTools web site.
  3. Doublicking the MapTool icon on the desktop, but nothing happend.
    # Doesen't appear application window, nor appear splash-screen.

# I tried same procedure with using username of 'I♥MapTool' and getted same result. # Additionaly, I tried same procedure with version 1.5.2 and getted same result.

MapTool Info

  • Version: 1.5.8
  • Install: New

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows
  • Version 10 Pro 64bit

Note When setting up Windows, Windows asks user for a 'name', so some Japanese people input their real name, then they use usersername with Japanese character without knowing it.

For these people, changing the user name to a string of valid characters is a very difficult task, so we hope the application to handle it.
