You can see the rendering issues in the two screenshots where the black squares are on the ground. This happens at the very start of the game during the intro fight and directly afterwards, so it’s easy to replicate.

Video files showing the issue happening in real time have been uploaded here...

Not my video, but there’s some gameplay on YouTube showing the rendering issues happening during the opening few minutes of the game starting at 5:12, during the cutscene at 5:34, and then again from 6:10 onwards when he’s running around the room. You will see the black squares appearing on the floor.

@Bobble80 maybe this bug has been fixed on a recent release. Please try that first. If not fixed, try if 0.0.32-16658 is working fine

@digant73 I’ve just tested both builds, the current one and the older 0.032 one, but the rendering issue / flickering graphics is still there in both builds. The current build also still has the problem with missing text in the settings menus like what’s happening with a few other games now.

The only thing I noticed when trying the older build is it was able to get past the opening cutscene and in game first time without RPCS3 crashing. But I don’t know if that was just random or not as sometimes the game crashes during the opening cutscene and other times it’s fine, it’s just random on the newer builds.

ok. It could be useful if you can test also some old releases (e.g. 2 years ago) just to know if the graphic issue is a regression or possibly an issue that was always there. The missing text has been identified as due to Async MM.

I’ve been checking some old gameplay videos of RPCS3 Splatterhouse on YouTube from the last few years and it seems that the rendering / graphical issues that I’ve pointed out are happening in those videos too. So I guess that issue has always been happening in the game for whatever reason.

I do not own that game and only developers can provide proper investigation of the bad performance. I would try to enable the recent added setting Enable SPU Events Busy Loop in Advanced. Maybe even Disable SPU GETLLAR Spin Optimization

Sadly, trying both of those settings made no difference. I was still getting around 24 FPS when the game starts. As soon as the game boots and shows the menus and title screen, it’s 60 FPS but then when you start the game it drops to around 20-24 FPS. Strange issue for such a small non demanding game.

Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
