Darksiders II (NPEB00902) Weird flickering artifacts around effects

Open sinisterseed opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Quick summary

There appears to be some minor graphical issues going on in the latest versions of RPCS3 (0.0.32-16836-bd5fd664 as of writing this) while playing this game. I checked the wiki page and it does not mention anything, so I figured I'd open an issue here for it. Specifically, effects seem to be glitching out, usually having some weird squares (of the same color as the effect itself) surrounding them for a few frames and flickering constantly, or stretching out into oblivion, like some sort of corruption. The error can become intrusive when larger effects are on the screen, such as when being attacked by multiple enemies.

Apart from this, the game seems to be doing quite fine otherwise, in terms of both performance and overall stability. I've tried fiddling with some settings in a custom config for the game, but I wasn't able to find a combination or option that solves this problem. By comparison, the original Darksiders showed no issues whatsoever. Screenshots taken using the emulator's defaults, not even upscaling is being used. Game version 1.02 (no other updates available), no DLC content.

Try enabling "Read color buffers" in the advanced tab under graphics section.

Try enabling "Read color buffers" in the advanced tab under graphics section.

Unfortunately, toggling the option does not solve the problem. Effects still flicker with the weird artifacts around them.

@sinisterseed can you try the attached rpcs3 binary (make a copy of rpcs3.exe first and then replace rpcs3.exe with the attached one)? that binary simply disabled the custom border color provided by #13901.

@sinisterseed is that still an issue?
