Script to make reading the first (oldest) edit more convenient

First off, thank you for your scripts, they're very useful!

Okay, so the general issue is that I find lots of bad edits are made because people do not read the first edit and therefore assume things / lack context.

Some ideas:

  • A button at the top of the edit history page that either jumps to the first edit (via #-anchor), or loads the first (oldest) page if the first edit isn't on the current page that you're on. Ideally it could load the oldest page and then automatically jump to the first edit too. Maybe it can jump to the last nth-edit or something like that (I'm no JavasScript wizard).
  • A link on a release / release group's page next to the "Editing history" link that specifically jumps to the first edit (skipping the need to first load the editing history page like in the first idea).
  • Maybe both?

There are probably better ideas, but the main point is that I find that the first thing I want to do when looking at the editing history is to look at the first edit, so any method to make that more convenient, or bring more attention to the first edit, would be beneficial I think.

Thanks!

Sounds interesting, thanks! You might have better luck requesting a userscript on the forum though, someone else might get to it sooner 🙂

If I'm not mistaken, @jesus2099 has a userscript (can't remember which one exactly) in which this feature might fit too.

This feature could be eligible for COLL_SEARCH_LINKS (aka Cool links) in SUPER TURBO or in PENDING EDITS (less appropriate, I guess). @redactedscribe, are you using one of these scripts?

@jesus2099 I am in fact using PENDING EDITS (thanks to you too by the way!). If the idea interests you, I'd be glad to see it manifest in the userscript some day. Not tried SUPER TURBO, but it sounds like a collections of many things, which probably would overlap with some of the other MBz scripts that I have. There's already one script of yours MBz script "mb. INLINE STUFF" that I edit whenever it updates to not conflict with duplicated functionality of "MusicBrainz UI enhancements" (recording disambiguation comments and ISRC related logic).

In SUPER TURBO, you can enable or disable each feature.
