Settings page improvements proposal

Open pgallo725 opened this issue 9 months ago • 6 comments

The current layout of the settings page is sub-optimal because it has a redundant ⚙ Settings title with a duplicated icon, while there is a lot of blank space at the top of the page. To make better use of the available space and make the layout more consistent with the other pages of the app, I would suggest to change it as shown in the attached image. NOTE: in my mock-up I have reused the same font for "Settings", but it might be better to use the same as in the other pages of the app, for consistency.

Additionally, I am proposing a couple of changes to the strings in this page:

  1. The "General Settings" button text contains a repetition of "settings" which is redundant and should probably be changed to just "General" (thanks @xDefcon for spotting this).
  2. "Leave a feedback" is not strictly correct, it is better to say "Leave feedback" in the button title and "leave your feedback / leave some feedback" in the button description text.

Just noticed that there is a lot of inconsistency between the settings sub-pages. Some of them have the icon + title as the main settings page, others have the title at the top as I proposed. Also, the font for the title of "General Settings" is different than the one in the "Import/Export Data" page. We should definitely make it consistent.

Yes, we'll review this entire section and update the issue after. I'll assign this to you @gohaneri but I would wait for more details from the design team first

This could be the result of this proposal:

Standard structure of all the settings page. I also update the size of "add button" ( where necessary ) to be more consistent with back button

Just a hint: instead of "Leave feedback", just "Feedback". It's leaner and cleaner.
