Unnable to enable addon after renaming blender.exe

Open Reoxur opened this issue 1 year ago • 6 comments

I feel like im the only one with this issue

image

Ever since Blender 3.2, I could never enable the addon except for 3.1 and 4.0

  • I've already made sure there isn't an existing SourceIO in 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.6 but still have the issue.
  • Removed the whole 3.6 folder under Appdata/Roaming
  • Tried both Master and 5.1.0

Strange. I use Blender 3.4 and 3.5 and I have no problems with it. Can you give me more info on how can i reproduce it?

Tbh I have no idea what info to give, doesn't feel like a normal issue, only SourceIO has this issue with me

Only other info I have is that I use a folder called Blender Builds to store all my portable blenders And I rename my blender.exe files to something like BL 3.6.3

Omg that was it, the renamed blender.exe was the issue, the addon enables now

Clipboarder 2023 09 26-005 Not sure if its because your init file says running in blender A renamed blender.exe means I'm not running in blender?

Since SourceIO can be used as library I use few function to determine it sourceio is loaded as addon or library. If it's a library and blender related API is disabled

I'll see if i can came up with better way to check for that

Ah I see, thanks Its fine if this isn't fixed, its technically my fault, I probably shouldn't be renaming software At least we are aware this can happen
