Hello,

thanks for the great app. This is working great on my hikvision camera but after a few seconds it randomly crashes. I dont see any obvious errors

Good day!

In order to help you, I will need additional details. Providing a copy of the entire log output would help me trace what was going on. (Note that some cameras output password in the RTSP URL, so make sure to sanitize it.)

  1. Are all background task completed when the crash occurs?
  2. What is the camera's video codec? (H265, H264?)
  3. What are the decoders available on your system? (Available decoders are listed in the log output on launch)

If all background task are completed at the time of the crash, the crash is most likely originating from the streaming thread. (Assuming the video is playing at the time of the crash)

Without any of those details available, I do have have something in mind. I did encounter some odd issues when I occasionally used the libde265 decoder, which is a software decoder for h265. I stopped encountering issues once I enabled h265 hardware acceleration using "nvh265dec" or "avdec_h265".

On the opposite, if hardware acceleration is enabled, the crashed could be originating from the GPU driver. I did have issues dealing with my nvidia drivers on numerous occasions.

Regardless, this is all just an assumptions without additional details. Using log trails, we could easily determine if any background task didn't finish at the time of the crash, which could be a lead on the root cause.

Thanks and looking forward to hear back!
