Seems like a new issue others are running into also. Myself included. Brand new device with a fresh install of redreader. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedReader/comments/1kshq2t/login_not_working/

Thanks, I've reported the issue to Reddit.

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do personally to fix it, as the issue isn't with the app (we just show a web browser which goes to the Reddit login page).

Is the result any different if the OAuth login page is opened in an external browser instead of the WebView?

I finally managed to get around this by:

  1. Enable Tor (do not install Orbot, we're trying to make the network fail)
  2. Try to login, you'll get an error with the URL, copy it
  3. Back out and disable Tor, fully close RedReader
  4. Paste the URL into your web browser and authenticate RedReader, click open in app at the end to return to RedReader
  5. RedReader will say authentication successful, fully close RedReader again or it will get stuck in a loop
  6. Done!

If we could get a direct option to copy the link or open it in an external browser that would be quite helpful imo
