Support for non-Apple keyboards

I am aware that currently, fluor supports only Apple keyboards. What is the reason for this, and what would be required to add support for other keyboards, e.g. Logitech MX Keys? Is it simply a matter of finding the right way to tell the keyboard to switch modes, or is it more difficult than that?

I'm not a macOS / Swift programmer so it would probably be quite difficult for me to find this out by myself...
