How to model AC/DC ratio for solar inverters?

Open fneum opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Can we do that?

This can be beneficial to reduce variability, cut peaks....

That would need changes to the underlying PV models. Right now the Huld model (I don't know about the Boefinger model) parameterises inverter efficiency directly into the parameters.

In principle I do not see any reason which would prevent us from seperating it, given the right solar panel model.

Almost all new PV plants in our region have a DC-AC ratio of >1.15, and therefore not modelling this results in increasing inaccuracies. As a quick fix would it not be possible to clip and rescale the power and CF outputs as follows:

For example assuming 100MWac plant with DC-AC ratio of 1.15, means 115MWdc Set plant size to 115MWdc (AC specified * DC-AC ratio) Output power >100MWac = 100MWac Rescale capacity factor to be based on 100MWac not the 115MWdc
