ProtonVPN (currently) doesn't treat GNU/Linux users as so-called first class citizens. There's other open source VPN that does tho..

We, linux users, should have access to this kind of functionality even before other OSes, as we are more likely to help and report issues that could concern other OSes. Please help us by letting us help you !

WireGuard speed, Proton privacy

WireGuard® is a new VPN protocol that is fast, secure, and open source, and today we are proud to announce that all ProtonVPN users now have WireGuard enabled by default as the preferred option with our Smart Protocol feature.

Nope, not true... :-/

It looks like it's in one of the ProtonVPN Python libs: https://github.com/ProtonVPN/protonvpn-nm-lib/blob/f0d4c0638fb2bf5d4ed61489eea31e79154776f9/protonvpn_nm_lib/core/vpn/vpn_configuration.py#L176

But the latest protonvpn-cli release I got via the deb repo (v3.11.0) doesn't offer it yet.

EDIT: Looking at the code more closely, it looks like it's mentioned but I don't see any implementation there. I don't know anything about the implementation details so maybe there's something implemented elsewhere. But the fact remains: we can't use it yet. :(
