Conversation Support

Open jamaljohnson opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Not a problem but modern mail apps all support conversation views and since we have it in the web app, would be nice to be consistent

Describe the solution you'd like An option to group messages in the same conversation

I've seen in multiple places it's on the roadmap, and I saw some comments around a refactor, issues with contributing, is there any way that other iOS developers can assist?

This is definitely one of the features that makes or breaks subscription status for users.

Where could we find an update on this? It's the only missing feature that is keeping me from making the switch.

We're approaching 2 years now since the original request (this one at least). Is it bubbling up on the roadmap any time soon?

@devintyler to your question, my understanding is the project is open source (https://protonmail.com/blog/ios-open-source/) so if you have the experience / skills, you could work on it with the normal open source flow through pull requests ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@jamaljohnson hey, I might be wrong but my understanding is that they are working on some major redesign for ProtonMail 4 (together with the web UI part) and features like this will be available in this new major version. And they are working on new versions of this app in a private repo, so this open source project is not really what people normally think of when they hear "open source", i.e. it's apparently not really intended for other people to contribute, just a read-only thing.
