White immovable streamlines on F1 Car

Open CS-TAP opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Hello,

I have started to use FluidX3D for a week now. I don't know much about coding.

I was using the W14 F1 car preset and I realized that after some time, the streamlines started to become white and stoped moving.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's something that happened because I installed something incorrectly.

I believe that I followed everything accordingly, I even went back and copy pasted the F1 car code from Github to Visual Studio just in case I had deleted something on accident. And still, it didn't change anything.

Here is a sequence of what happens: https://imgur.com/a/TqD4d4W

Thank you.

This is simulation instability. This F1 geometry is difficult, with tiny gaps between the front tires and front fenders, and erreneous placing of the right back wheel. The model needs some modifications in 3D Builder in order to work correctly: remove front fenders and place right back wheel a bit further out. The instabilities arise from the tight gaps. I'll try to find a more suitable F1 car model and replace it eventually.

how about this? https://app.airshaper.com/simulations/aero-update-4-new-7ae386

@ProjectPhysX with this stl model I linked, I think I have a similar problem where the vorticity gradually disappears , seemingly by the propagation of a numerical instability. It seems to propagate from the back, how do I revise the geometry to avoid this? Remove small gaps as you say? The rear wing seems to be wrongly voxelized. Thank you in advance!

@ProjectPhysX hi, please could you specify how exactly to prepare the W14 stl files? I separated wheels from chassis, removed front wheel deflectors, the decals, but I still get the streamwise protrusions and no flow visualization: image
