Configure the number of thumbnails to be displayed

Is there a configuration or possible feature that could be used to limit the number of thumbnails to be displayed in the Mirador Viewer (i.e. limiting only 5 thumbnails to display on screen at a time)? This inquiry is mainly due to items that have a large number of pages, displaying all thumbnails simultaneously can significantly slow down the system.

Any solutions would be appreciated! Thanks.
