Issue with Voiceover in safari with Mirador 3

When using Voiceover with Safari, the commands to interact with the controls in the mirador viewer do not work. In other words to Zoom in or something it says, "to interact with items in this group press control+shift+ down arrow" but nothing happens when you follow those commands. We have tested on Chrome, and Voiceover works well with no issues to report.

For some reason VoiceOver is just not seeing the buttons.

Has anyone had an issue with VoiceOver on Safari reading "zoom in", "zoom out" buttons
