[23:41:57] <Flexman> does maps now support bing? according to https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Maps/mapping_service#Available_values it seems so. which version do i need for bing maps?

PS: Please don't ask me any question (see refs), I just posted the question here so project members can accurately answer it and have a reference for similar questions in future.

As far as I know it should be much easier now to add new geoservice providers after Jeroen refactored the code. Probably the same for Yandex or Here Maps.

Is this a question or a feature request?

The link to the docs is about a bing layer when using OpenLayers. No idea if that works, and generally using the OpenLayers service is not recommended as Maps uses a very old version.

I guess this is a feature request and this is why I have labeled it as such. Moreover others can subscribe to follow any progress on this.

You meant OpenLayers as in service "openlayers"? This would mean that only "leaflet" is usable for people who cannot use or do not want to use GoogleMaps?

Correct... at least is it more suitable than the OpenLayers service

Ah, ok. I did not know. Probably there should be a note on wiki about this.

Edit: I added an info to the relavant pages:

According to this: https://www.semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Maps/mapping_service#Available_values ...I also thought Bing maps is already available.

I believe that all of this is no longer working as the example shows.
