is this project abandoned?

Open connectdotz opened this issue 8 years ago • 9 comments

this used to be such a wonderful project, but since late last year it is falling behind the individual font packages and start to have build issues...; It hasn't been updated for a while despite many interests and pull requests... just wondering if this project is still alive?

No, it isn't. I'm currently working on a new release. I work at least 12 hours per day and at least 6 days per week for my current daily job (It's a daily and nightly job in fact 😂). So I don't have too much time to spend on FAK, but I didn't forget my baby.

Nice to hear that you still feel strongly about this project. We all loved it and wanted to see it keep going. if the current pull requests don't align with your new vision, please do let others know how they can best contribute to the new release, so you can get some sleep between your demanding job and this project ...;-)

Looking forward to seeing the new release soon.

Hey @PrideChung, I love your pod and I totally understand that your job that pays your bills is more important than a free library. But I also think owning a >1,8k star library brings some responsibility with it - how about adding a contributor or two? Maybe @GabrielCartier? Or @RemyDCF? Any other volunteers?

The last thing we need is 15 different forks, all implementing various fixes, all going different directions and leave the pain to the user to pick one.

Hey, just pitching in. I can probably give the library some time to manage the issues or PR mainly, but I can't really commit to the library unfortunately.

It'd be nice to know where the project is going though.

@PrideChung I could probably chip in some time too. So you've got two volunteers, together we'd be three to mange issues and PRs, main development would still be up to you. Just a few clicks and you'd not only make a lot of people happy but also do your baby justice ;-)

Hi, @GabrielCartier @sebastianludwig, thanks for not giving up on me 😂 My sweat shop like startup company finally start being less sweaty recently 🙄 I have about 2 hour per day for my open source projects now. So I made up a plan for the whole new v3.0 to fix all the problems we have. Reviews and comments are welcome.

Glad to hear your life is back to normal. Still, this might be the right time to add contributors - while you have the time to coordinate the work and establish goals and guidelines. This way you can speed up the work and prevent abandonment in the future.
