Replacement of IR switch with reed switch?

I love this project. Thank you for open sourcing it. I wanted to replace the IR sensor with a reed switch, but there's a problem because if the reed switch stays closed, then the voltage regulator will stay locked on. I saw a possible workaround involving a few components. I pasted the LT-spice simulation. Current draw is zero except at the moment the switch closes. Just wondered what you thought?

Oh yes thank you. I was using your old design because I have most of the bits in my workshop. I see what you mean with the new schematic. Thanks for replying.
