Can't make PNID on 3DS (Doesn't accept emails)

I was trying to make a PNID directly from the 3DS through NNID settings. When it came time to enter the Email, it said "the domain name of the e-mail address you entered may be incorrect. Please check the email address you entered and try again" even though I entered my valid email exactly. Trying to move on from this, I get Error Code 022-2402, and it doesn't specify what went wrong, and I have to restart the process

I had the same problem, tried to make the PNID again, and clicked "Yes" instead of "No" to the question about sending commercial e-mail from Nintendo. That worked apparently and everything works now.

I appear to be unable to currently create a PNID entirely unless I'm missing something. It prompts me with a login for my NNID, which obviously fails as I'm on the Pretendo network. Is is not possible to have a PNID on the Pretendo network without removing my NNID on the Nintendo network first?
