Add documentation for emailing
I had trouble configuring my local mail sending. I did not see in the documentation, how to configure a local mail server (wamp, laragon). So I started with SMTP.
I would like to add a section in the documentation, for people who don't know where to configure. Then test locally.
I would like to have an opinion, or a feedback. Thanks
Hi @Grezor thanks for the suggestion!
Setting up a local mail server is, I think not something we should put inside https://devdocs.prestashop.com/ . Because it's not related to PrestaShop 😉 .
However "how to find which settings you must input in your back-office" could be useful for PrestaShop back-office users. But should it go in https://devdocs.prestashop.com/ or in the user documentation https://doc.prestashop.com/ ?
We could maybe put a statement inside a https://devdocs.prestashop.com/1.7/faq/ and redirect to other docs ?
Hi, @matks

Concerning the mail configuration, even if it is not something important to configure for a developer, there is always the SMTP solution. In the PrestaShop admin back office, there is still a part to be configured if it is not the php mail function.
In the part "i'm simple user" Link. It is noted in bold. : Use the mail() function of PHP. (Details below, ⇒ **1) But not in the "Developer" part
After from an external point of view some prefer local (each one is opinion). Rather than SMTP.
However "how to find which settings you must input in your back-office" could be useful for PrestaShop back-office users. But should it go in https://devdocs.prestashop.com/ or in the user documentation https://doc.prestashop.com/ ?
This is a very good point to improve indeed, it should be informed in the documentation in both I think, it would perhaps avoid switching documentation to the other, or add it in the documentation (Developer) and make a link to the documentation https://doc.prestashop.com/. To have more details.
-- **1 : concerning the mail configuration, it's because I lost a lot of time trying to understand why my php mail function doesn't work on Prestashop, but my mail function works for a Symfony project. That's why I had created a way to explain my problem.
Hello @matks As I didn't get any feedback from you, I'm going to restart the conversation about the email contribution
Can I contribute on this part? as agreed above.
I would like to add some documentation: In FAQ => create a menu (Administration FAQ)
