Widgets rework
I finally found a way to update the widgets in the background. It’s kind of a weird solution, but it works, so why not?
I’ve also decided to rebuild the widgets from scratch because the current implementation isn’t working.
The new widgets I’ve planned will include Material design and some customizable options, like transparent widgets with clocks.
This will probably be released in v2.0.0 or later, depending on when it’s fully finished.
yo, could you also increase the pill widget size a bit? there's a lot of free space around it after the update, thanks!
@pective People will complain that it's too big then, because that's the size it was before, as you're saying.

My plan is to use the original weather widgets from the Google Weather app itself. Once it's ready, I'll share it here or maybe do a pre-release with them :P.

Hello, atm I'm using a closed source app from the Play Store. I think your app is almost perfect for my use, but it needs more customizable widgets. Idk what your roadmap for widgets is, but could you consider working on creating such a widget or even one with more (optional) information?
I'd really like to have a widget with the forecast for tomorrow/the day after or one for the week, so I don't have to open the app too often.

I have this issue as well. I'm on Pixel 7 Pro and using Smart Launcher. Did you manage to find a solution?

I have the same issue. Using a Pixel 6 Pro.
Sadly, I have to stop working on the widgets… I tried like a hundred times, but it just didn’t work out. I’ll be moving on to other important features that I can actually add instead.

I know this may or may not affect you but without widget support I feel many current users may switch weather apps or at least myself. I was about to switch to your app but the only thing is missing the widget support. I completely understand that you've tried everything but I do hope / ask it can still be considered for the future. Because like I said this is the only thing at least for me that's holding me back from using this app, so instead I'll just keep using Google weather for now. :/ Appreciate your efforts to try though, love the app itself otherwise in mostly all aspects. Thanks again and I don't want to come off rude (so I hope I didn't) or anything because that is definitely not my intention here.
@Styphoryte Yea, that’s actually true. I do have a few ideas to work around it, but they’re a bit complicated. I’ve even been thinking about maybe rewriting the app in Flutter it’d make things easier since the current tech just doesn’t support it well

Okay awesome, I just didn't want to see you completely write the idea off / abandon it because there's probably a few peeps like me who would say exactly the same thing... No rush at all of course, that would be a lot of work for widget functionality. I just hope to see it one day is all, patience is a virtue as they say ahaha. Appreciate you at least thinking about it and maybe working on it someday then. I know sometimes you must focus on other things before another can be fixed anyways. If it's the universe's way of telling you your doing things In the wrong order or what idk but thanks again for the reply and consideration...

Yeah lol, I haven't made it yet. I wanna release it with these widgets first just to knock out any bugs, and then once it's working, I'll add more widgets.
These two will be the start.
hey one thing, could you make it so clicking the widget opens the app? i dont know if its supposed to not open it, but i think it would be really handy
