I-beam pointer is erroneously seen on on the left of the label

Repro: Can be seen on the official demo page.

Move the mouse over the first letter of the "text input" floating label of the 2nd paper-input instance. Observe that the mouse pointer changes to the I-beam. Double clicking selects a space character which should not exist, revealing the issue.

The problem seems to be caused by the   instance here.
