MC-Edit Unified v1.6.0.53 is not responsive.
Description of Issue:
Hello. My issue is that MC-Edit is slow to respond to copying, flipping, pasting and so on. When you do anything with MC-Edit it's not responsive. Example: Press copy. Instead of doing it immediately, it will copy 2 seconds later. It can be extremely annoying if you keep using it. This is the main reason why I still use the old MC-Edit Unified v1.5.6.0 because that version doesn't do it. Please fix this. If it was responsive, I wouldn't need the old version anymore.
MCEdit Version: v1.6.0.53
Minecraft Version the world was last opened in: 1.12.2 Java PC
Operating System: Windows 7 64-Bit
A screenshot or full text of the error from the console: Not Needed
How to reproduce: Continue using it and compare it with the old MC-Edit Unified v1.5.6.0. You will see it's not responsive.
I made a quick video showing you both versions. You can see the old 1.5.6.0 is faster. All your betas are slow. http://destructiveburn.com/personal-files/help/github/MC-Edit-Slowdown.mp4
same....
Are you running both 1.6.0.53 and 1.5.6.0 at the same time? If so that might cause some of the unresponsiveness. You .mp4 link gives a 404, so I can't see your provided example of this

I removed the video from the server because I never got a response back. From monitoring the issues you completely ignored my issue regarding MC-Edit until someone else reply's 3 months later.
Luckily, I still had the video showing you a comparison of your version of MC-Edit response being slow and it still is an issue to any version you release (1.6+). So the link works again for now.
I still want it fixed. Sure, the response time from clicking "Copy/Paste" works quickly from opening any MC-Edit v1.6+ but the more you use it the longer the response time is to use "Copy/Paste" and you're forced to restart MC-Edit because it ends up slow.
Now the question is, are you going to fix it or continue to ignore my issue. Yes, I'm frustrated not because of the problem, but more so on the lack of support and the problem too is irritating.
I apologize for the delay in responding to your issue, sometimes issues fall through the cracks and it takes a new comment in order for us to remember it. This was in no way intentional.
However, we maintain this program in our spare time, because we want to, and for nothing in return expected. We all have our own lives, our own responsibilities. For example, I am a college student, so I cannot guarantee any scheduled amount of time for this project since I am busy with schoolwork almost everyday. If you find the lack of support is a big issue, feel free to help out and look through our source code, we are always accepting of new help and we always try to answer questions when we can.
As for this specific issue, it seems to be a memory leak. I’ll look into this, but I cannot give an exact timeframe of when it will done/fixed due to the above reasons. I also please ask that if you submit media (such as the video) for a bug report, don’t remove it, since then we lose the example of the bug taking place. Uploading and linking an unlisted YouTube video or a similar, reputable site is also a good alternative. If I figure out the cause and/or fix this issue, I’ll let you know.
Have you checked your settings to see if they’re the same as in what you have for 1.5.6.0? The testing release create a new config file with default values when you first run one of them
I fully understand. Life does get in the way at times but it's necessary :). I was thinking of a memory leak but wasn't sure. It is present in the MC-Edit v1.5.6.0 too but not as bad. As long as you can look into it and hopefully fix it (when you can) it would be much appreciated. I re-uploaded it to Youtube as unlisted here: https://youtu.be/GvlMOCHAXB4
Not sure what config file but I did check pyconfig.h and both are the same right down to line 777 in Notepad ++. As for my settings, everything is default as intended on all version of MC-Edit 1.0.
If you need any information, please let me know anytime. P.S. Good luck in college. :+1:
Sorry for the delay, but it seems to be a result of having multiple file buffers open at once. Every region file that is loaded has an open file descriptor until the world is saved and closed, so fixing this isn't really something that can be accomplished. However, we also have a lot of unused variables which could also be filling up memory faster than in 1.5.6.0. I'll see what I can do, but I may not be able to fix the performance degradation since it caused by how we keep worlds open and editable.
Hmm. Ok. That kinda sucks, but thanks for the response back. I have one question though and it's off topic from this thread, Will you be updating MC-Edit to work with v1.14 of Minecraft when it's out. MC-Edit is out of date for 1.13 so just wondering if you're going to keep it up to date.
The format has changed too much for us to bodge into MCEdit. We are working on Amulet which will support it
