[Bug] FPS counter only shows when menu is open

I think this is related to #400, I have really no clue why text rendering is broken like this sometimes.

I haven't seen this issue in a while. I'm assuming that this was silently fixed in past (or by my recent changes in f0c57d6c13d977c0c2b073070a8c2170a4ac412c) and I will close the issue. If this happens again, please reopen it.
