Channel balance slider range

I'm sure other people have this problem, when pairing sennheiser headphones with most DACs on Android. The minimum volume is far too loud for listening to say, audio books in a quiet room. And the volume slider seems to increase in full 1db increments meaning just two notches off mute and you can hear the phones from across the room.

What would be great is if the channel balance page allowed a full 24db of attenuation to be set instead of 9.9db, which is close but not enough to get decent precision out of the volume slider.

I've tried using better DACs but everything on the market uses the same chip (usb c to 3.5mm cables) and all have this issue.
