why is there variation due to rotation?

When I rotate the vial, the OD signal can vary ~2%. This is a potential problem in #199. Why is there any variation when rotating the vial?

  • changes in the geometry of the glass cylinder? Ex: If the vial interior or exterior isn't a perfect cylinder.
  • unaccounted reflection? I can test this by seeing if the 180 signal shows variation.
