Pinta 3.x will only display as a Blank White Window on Intel Graphics 4000 architecture due to GTK bug

Open Pentaphon opened this issue 3 months ago • 2 comments

Description Pinta 3.x will only display as a Blank White Window on Intel Graphics 4000 architecture due to a known GTK bug. Gajim users also report the same issue on GTK4 apps here: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/12372 and GNOME devs say they won't fix it unless somebody submits a patch here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/7283#note_2329698

I am posting this in case anybody else comes across the same issue on this older (but still usable) hardware so they get an answer.

To Reproduce

  1. Install Pinta 3.x on any machine with Intel Graphics 4000
  2. See window be completely white, not displaying any info whatsoever.

Additional Info Screenshots will just show a white window anyway

Version Pinta 3.0.4 Windows 11 Intel Graphics 4000

@Pentaphon Does it work properly on the GNU/Linux + Mesa combo? I don't have a GPU of the era to test. Maybe we can recommend users that come to this issue with similar problems to a GNU/Linux distro such as ZorinOS, for example?

Nope. The hardware bug affects every OS. Either the GTK bug gets fixed or users have to buy different hardware.
