Polygon Lasso mode uses the wrong icons
A quick addendum to #1096 (Polygon Sasso Select).
The freeform vs polygon icons are inappropriate for a few reasons:
- Because it contains straight lines, you cannot draw the current Freeform icon in Freeform mode, unless you have a very steady hand :)
- One icon uses dashed lines and one uses solid lines, implying a difference that doesn't exist. If anything, solid lines convey the solidity of Polygon mode, but currently it's the Freeform icon using dashed lines.
- The current Polygon icon is an irregular star shape, which (to me) conveys the mouse-jiggling nature of Freeform mode.
I'd suggest one of two fixes:
-
(probably better) Since we already have a big word "Replace" showing in the Selection dropdown, the user is already processing the tool settings textually; so just replace the icons with the text "Freeform" or "Polygon".
-
Replace the Freeform icon with an amoeba-looking icon made of dashed curved lines, and replace the Polygon icon with an irregular convex polygon made of dashed lines.
These are good points - @PabloRufianJimenez any thoughts on this?
My two cents:
- Dashed lines should be used to indicate a selection, like the icon for the rectangle select tool
- I don't mind the suggestion for just using text here, but otherwise I agree with having a more organic shape for the freeform mode
