offical version
Is this package moving under mpl any time soon? It is still under the third party packages: http://matplotlib.org/devdocs/thirdpartypackages/index.html#adjusttext
Last year I saw some discussions about having an official version http://matplotlib.1069221.n5.nabble.com/Automatic-adjustment-of-labels-adjustText-td46634.html
Having to install it separately makes users concerned about life and maintenance of the package.
Following your logic, should users be concerned in the same way about
seaborn, since it's not a part of mpl? Or about mpl, since it's a package
and not part of the core python?
I really don't understand the problem, there are thousands of packages in
pypi, should users worry about all of them?
In principle, there are plans to integrate it into mpl or transfer to mpl for support, however I don't have the time or the energy now, and don't know when I will. If you think it's important, feel free to work towards this goal, i.e. write tests according to mpl guidelines, make a proper documentation and talk to mpl devs about what else would be required.
