Once installed, how do you actually use this plugin?

  • Enable the plug-in in the plugin menu of Keepass
  • Enable the plug-in in the Android accessibility settings of your phone
  • (optional but personally recommended) whitelist the plugin in any battery optimization app and setting, to make sure it's always running and ready to catch any login form to fill

I performed all three points above, and still don't see any change in behaviour. How can I recognise that the plugin works? For testing I'm using e.g. the Samsung Browser on the Facebook login page. And I don't see any change with or without this plugin. I wasn't using the old versions of Keepass2Android, so I have nothing to compare with.

LG G6, Android 8, Keepass2Android 1.05e, AutoFill plugin 1.02

@xarx00 According to this Dashlane blog post, Android 8 Oreo only provides autofill feature for Chrome-based browsers (actually, WebKit or Blink-based engines). I couldn't find the engine used by Samsung Browser. Maybe you should try with Chrome for Android.

Android 9 Pie will bring compatibility with other browsers. Then you will be able to use Samsung Browser.

I've installed Dashline, which you pointed me to, and it works both in Chrome and Samsung browser. The K2A Autofill plugin works only in Chrome, but doesn't work in Samsung browser. Actually, Samsung browser is Chromium based, so the plugin should work. At least now I know, what the Autofill plugin is supposed to do :-).

Edit: To answer the topic question: When there is a password field in the web page, the Autofill plugin shows a padlock icon in the Android notification area. When you tap it, K2A allows you to choose from available credentials, and the plugin fills the selected credentials into the form. It would help if such a description was written in the plugin documentation.

Yes, I agree. On my side I was expecting the plugin to work on applications and not only browsers. I would be nice to have an explanation in the README, explaining how to use it exactly (and not only how to install & activate it).
