Allow to "Do not show again" SSH banner

Open PhilippC opened this issue 6 years ago • 9 comments

On some SSH machines, the server can respond with a banner to a login (https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4252.txt, see 5.4) which should be possible to "Do not show again"

Dear Phillip,

I was hoping to find some spare time to work on this issue, however I can't. Can you have a look to this issue? I guess it won't take so long for you to improve and add a "do not show again".

Thanks a lot.

I've seen a keepass update however this ssh issue seems not to be fixed. Any update to share? Do you plan to add this item to the backlog for next release ?

Thanks.

this is a relatively difficult change for a probably very small number of users and can often be solved on the server side as well. This is why it's not high priority for me (given there are so many other things to work on).

Won't it be simpler to disable it as it was before rather than handling a state "display banner or not" ? Which files are concerned by this banner display ?

(Oh by the way I fully understand that this issue is far from being critical and that priority is low)

not sure what "before" means, but JSCH calls a method "showMessage" for many things, including the banner. As I have integrated JSCH source code, at the moment it would be possible to change that behavior, but in the future I would like to switch to including via maven, so making changes to JSCH is not a good idea.

Hi, Any chance that the following link could ease the removal of ssh banner message : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16777551/jsch-removing-routers-login-banner

checking that point tonight. I'll set back my ssh banner and verify if it is still the case.

With a banner configured on my ssh server, every db sync is getting the banner to be displayed. using keepass v1.12-r5
