Latest Offline version missing in the PlayStore
The Offline version Keepass2Android Offline has not been updated to the latest release. As the release was a few weeks ago and the "normal" version has been updated directly this might be a mistake or missed in the release process.
Last update to the offline version beta was in February, last update to the online version beta was in November. Is this an intentional thing to simplify the release process during beta testing or something?
I am struggling to get the offline version running with the 1.09 features merged in. It's crashing when opening a database, but the crash doesn't make sense to me. I'm still investigating.
I also just noticed the missing -nonet
tags. Hope you'll find the culprit soon and can eliminate it. Best luck!
Instead of two versions would it be easier to just use Keepass2Android code and just not have the network permission?
I was using keepass2android offline version, but to get access to new features I'm trying keepass2android 1.09c with network blocked using netguard from playstore. Do you think this setup would be as secure as offline version?
I want to continue using keepass2android because I like the UI and the keyboard (alternatives fail in both aspects).
Yes, blocking would have the save effect.
I just switched from the offline version too because I use Firefox and I noticed that there were specific bug fixes for Firefox in Keepass2Android.
@PhilippC , did you also update your other project netftpandroid ? I just found by comparing 'net' and 'nonet' tags of 1.08c-r1 that this dependency is only in the nonet version.
@PhilippC maybe just once upon a time manually create a nonet release? The currently most recent one just turned 2 years.
Hi @PhilippC, @IzzySoft & others.
I created PR https://github.com/PhilippC/keepass2android/pull/2136 (merge of master branch into nonet branch and a few additional fixes) which builds fine for me and the resulting nonet apk works fine, without crash, on a real Android 6.0 (marshmallow). Didn't test on another device. If you could confirm it works great with more recent devices, that would be great and we might get a nonet
release a bit more rapidly.
@tenzap I'm just providing the app via my repo, I unfortunately have no time for testing… But thanks for helping out! Hope it goes well and is merged soon then!
If someone is nice enough to share a built copy (sorry I'm not an Android dev) I can test on an Android 7 & Android 10 device
@user8446 , you might want to check the artifacts available here
@PhilippC any luck with the nonet build yet? I just noticed the APK is already beyond the per-app size limit of my repo, so I'd really appreciate an update with per-ABI builds – and you telling me whether I shall pick armeabi or arm64. Thanks in advance!
Oof. Just found the release from last week, and the APK down to 24 MB, which of course fits in. Glad to see you got it working again! Would have adjusted the config back to check for updates daily (was down to monthly due to the huge gap) – but that APK is unsigned :scream: Could you please sign & replace the APK, and then give me a ping? (per-ABI builds would still be a good idea as then I could keep multiple versions, but that can be left for later)
@PhilippC Is there any chance for an update of the offline-version in the Play Store?
I will publish https://github.com/PhilippC/keepass2android/releases/tag/v1.09e-r3 unless severe issues will pop up in the current testing phase.
@SoftwUser until then you can update e.g. via my repo if you wish. As it's signed by Philipp's own keys it should be cross-updateable with the PlayStore release. As are several other apps, plus again some more exclusively availabe via my repo – so might be worth trying one of the F-Droid clients
