Ctrl + Backspace and Ctrl + Delete conflicts with system behavior

Usually, Ctrl + Backspace deletes a word (like how Ctrl + Left/Right navigates with words). I use these sort of shortcuts a lot as it's much quicker to navigate/edit text with.

Ctrl + Delete usually deletes either the last word ahead of the cursor or the rest of the word if the cursor in the middle of a word. I use this less but it's still a valid system shortcut. Both these shortcuts work in Scratch.

But in Spice-Up these seem to be shortcuts for deleting objects.

I can think of two solutions:

  • Change the deleting shortcut to Alt + Backspace/Delete instead,
  • Or modify the text editing shortcuts to use Alt instead of Ctrl (elementary's Terminal does this, at least for Ctrl + Backspace)

The former might be not so obvious or user friendly, but the latter might be inconvenient for those who are used to the shortcuts, and might be harder to implement.

Hmmm i'll have to think about it. TBH, the pros about having a consistent deletion of items is more important in my opinion.

What could maybe happen is to have an "edit mode" and a "move mode" for the text, and until you double click, arrow keys could move the item ( depends on #112 ) and Ctrl+Delete could delete the whole item. Kinda like how other presentation apps do so
