Order tags in the sidebar

Open skyblue002 opened this issue 6 years ago • 0 comments

Expected Behavior

It would be great if the tags in the sidebar could be ordered somehow.

Current Behavior

There is no ability to reorder tags and they do not keep themselves alphabetized. This may not be an issue with a short tag list. But, with a long tag list, it becomes hard to find tags.

Possible Solution

Two ideas:

  1. Put a switch in the Preferences dialog that results in the tags being automatically alphabetized.
  2. Allow users to drag and drop tags in the sidebar to reorder them manually -- if a user is using the app as a notebook for productivity purposes, they may want a 'todo' tag at the top, even though 't' would come later in the alphabet.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

When I start the Notes-up app, the tags are not in any order in the sidebar.

Context

I am using the Notes-app to keep track of a tea collection. I use tags for different tea attributes, for example: oolong, green, jasmine, Japanese, Chinese, roasted, etc. The list of tags is very long and I only have put in a handful of my teas so far. Having the ability to alphabetize the tags would make it easier to find the teas that I am looking for, by tag.
