Multiple Locations for Game Installs and Downloads

Open Alfagun74 opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Description: This feature request addresses two related issues concerning the management of game libraries within our application.

Issue #227 highlights the problem of storage limitations faced by users with large game libraries or games of substantial size. Currently, users can max out their storage capacity when multiple games are installed, especially when games can exceed 100GB in size. The proposed solution is to introduce the ability to define multiple "install folders" on different drives, thus providing users with a flexible and practical way to manage their game installations.

Issue #210 emphasizes the space requirements for game installations, particularly when dealing with large games. The current process involves downloading games to a "Downloads" folder in compressed format, extracting them, and then installing them in the "Installations" folder. This process can consume a significant amount of storage space, making it challenging for users with limited storage capacity. The suggested solutions include allowing users to set up separate downloads and installations folders on different drives or implementing a feature to delete compressed archives after extraction to free up space.

By addressing these two issues together, we aim to enhance the user experience by providing more flexible storage management options and optimizing storage usage for our application.

Just in Case this gets implemented: Let's keep in mind that moving files between different drives takes time. So, we should have loading bars in certain spots, such as when we're moving the "Extracted" folder.
