Do not close "about:newtab" and "about:blank". Is it possible to implement it?

I too have this issue.

Steps to repro:

  1. Open new tab page. Type in a URL.
  2. Open another new tab page (before URL has loaded).
  3. Extension considers the new tab page (from step 2) as a duplicate

Having the same issue, found this issue, didn't know about:newtab was a thing. Tried putting that into the URL whitelist like so:

about:blank
about:newtab

And it seems to work as expected.
