The plugin works very well within the boundaries you have stated. Thanks for that. I am in the process of getting an Estimate to improve accuracy.

Just a couple of points of note.

  1. I notice that exiting takes about 10 mins or long to trigger
  2. Entering is almost immediate.
  3. is there anyway to customise the notifications when it is triggered to state the name of the accessory that has triggered. Right now it simply states that occupancy has been detected.

I have found this plugin works really well too and use in combination with Locative as suggested. Great for triggering home/away scenes. Response time is about 20-30 seconds for me and rather accurate. I know it is the geo-location doing the immediate triggering as locative also notifies the phones. I was going to eventually pickup some Chipolo devices and add those as options (to determine which vehicles are home/away to know which garage door to open when arriving home) but I am working on a Nut plugin first (unrelated).

How did you settle on Estimote vs anything else? I did some research and saw Chipolo had better range both in/out than most other ble and other favorable features. Just curious.

Hey Todd, to be honest I didn't give Chipolo much thought simply I've had an eye on the Estimotes for a while for the primary purpose of indoor mapping as well as playing around with the micro location interaction - just an interest of mine.

So when I saw that it would help me here ;) I jumped

In a roundabout way they delay of 10 mins I notice when exiting is sort of convenient because it almost takes care of ignoreexits. I guess I'll get a better idea as I start creating automations with it.

Another reason was that I have another device that could have been used, Wireless Tags. I don't know if you have mucked around with these. They incorporate a number of sensors and they work extremely reliably. The dev doesn't have the intention of any HomeKit integration from my discussions. eg. I have one on in the sunroof of my car. Its purpose is to allow me to remotely check whether the roof is shut via its motion sensor ,since the car isn't parked under cover. It can also be used as a geofence trigger ie. in range or out. Now what I like about them is that they have speech notifications, so when you name the tag, it will say e.g. 'Todd's car has been found'... and thanks to your onkyo plugin, I can route that to the lounge speakers ;)
