Alert players when a bot makes a fake pazer alert spam

Open RoiGBoi opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

I've seen a few instances of bots using our own alert message to fool players on kicking other players, the bots use the same alert message flooded with blank text before it.

My suggested solution to this is to counter the spam with making an alert as well after the bot has made the flood text.

I can't really see another solution besides this.

I generally think having this tool post messages to chat is a bad idea. It will just become an arms race with the bots constantly copying whatever automated message the tool uses and everyone will just associate automated messages with bots. IMO, I think it's better if the tool just runs in the background and uses party chat to let the user know that a bot is joining etc. rather than spamming public chat with automated messages.

That would be a good idea, also I think it would be also a good idea to message party chat when the user is the one kicking the bot since when I was kicking a bot that used my name I thought that bot was kicking me and I told the chat to press f2, causing the bot to stay longer.

I think this is a bad idea. We should be shooting for less messages. Not to mention any bot that does that also clears chat with new lines. It's simply not a solution for the problem.
