Make Racism tag more general

Open TheDrawingCoder-Gamer opened this issue 5 years ago • 6 comments

A clear and concise description of what the problem is. There are other types of discrimination than racism.

Describe the solution you'd like I would either like racist to become "discriminatory" or new types for different types of discrimination e.g. homophobic

Describe alternatives you've considered I've thought about overloading the racist tag with anything discriminatory but this makes the chat message look weird.

This has been a common discussion on discord. The current community standing is to change the name of the tag to bigot. However, this is among the lowest priority since this tag is not actually used for anything and it is unlikely it will be used for anything.

I've thought about overloading the racist tag with anything discriminatory but this makes the chat message look weird.

What chat message? The tag is purely cosmetic, it does not create chat warnings or trigger votekicks.

Ah. I was not paying attention. I'm sorry for making a mistake as I just extended the logic to other things.

something marginally related to this but not worthy of it's own thread: rules to automatically mark someone as racist based on name or chat messages might be prone to false positives because of context. It might be wise to only be able to use this tag by directly marking.

There could be a counter for how often they've ever said the offending words. For instance, if counter >= 2, it marks them as Racist. Reduces false positives, and shows it's repeated behavior.
