So why didn't you propose these changes to the author of node-red-node-pushover instead of creating a node with similar functionality?

Have you approached the authors and discussed whether this could be integrated (Slack or forum). Breaking changes are not good, but sometimes necessary to ensure that timely development can progress.

In fact the git pull request #1 sorts the problem. I'll leave this open as a reminder.

I can't see any quick fix for this, other than disabling 'swipe between tabs' in nodered, as that function appears to override the thermostat function.
