This is a suggestion only

I suggest to have more data fields for storage locations maybe like creating a component with parameters

In this way you can have a component storage location like:

Shelve: 1 Box: Black ESD Box 1 Box position: Top part Row: 3 Column: 2

Also to be able to upload an PDF file with overview of all the cells in the boxes etc. for that box

You can define your whole storage using the existing tree scheme. For every node, you can add attachments that show e.g. the box layout.
