Please, recover ePapirus

I have been using Papirus for many years, but since I use the GTK Greybird theme, I always used ePapirus.

ePapirus worked well because, first of all, it displayed dark gray icons in menus, taskbars, tay icons, etc. that integrated nicely with Greybird.

And, secondly, with Greybird you can have dark colored panels and notification area, so the icons looked white there and looked perfect.

Now, removing ePapirus doesn't look good on my desktop anymore: Papirus-Dark doesn't work for me because, although there are dark elements, the general theme is not dark, so it doesn't work.

And the base Papirus shows dark icons where before the gray ones looked better.

Please, I beg you to add ePapirus again or, at least, some script that allows to generate an ePapirus theme from the original one.

I tried to create a script on my own, but I can't find a way to make it work properly (always missing icons and my generated ePapirus is unusable).

Thanks!!!

Hi jEsuSdA. I'm sorry, but ePapirus will not be restored, and there are reasons for this. Firstly, this theme was created for elementaryOS, which now does not support third-party icon themes. Secondly, for XFCE users, we have migrated all the icons from ePapirus to the current themes (but leaving the monochrome color). Thirdly, as you remember, initially we tried to adapt the theme for Arc, then for Materia, and even for elementary... But in the end it turned out to be useless, because these themes are dropped and with other default themes (Breeze/Gnome, etc.) everything does not look good, and therefore it makes no sense to change the color of monochrome icons, it will look alien, not beautiful, etc. Finally, the wonderful "sed" tool can solve many of your problems, including the "-symbolic" icons.

Hi, @varlesh !

Thank you for taking time to explain me the ePapirus dropping reasons. I understand this now.

But, please, I don't know anything about using sed to change symbolic icons. Could you help me to do that. If I could create my own grey symbolic icons version, it would be great! I do not need more!!!

Thank you so much!!!

Hi!

Can anyone help me about creating a bash script to recreating e-papirus icon theme from regular ones? Thanks!

@jEsuSdA you already fix colors, see your message: https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/papirus-icon-theme/issues/197#issuecomment-264716028
