[Feature Request] Impulse Trigger Vibration for games supporting Windows.Gaming.Input API

Open eVenent opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Some games are supporting Impulse Trigger Vibration on Xbox One controller. Unfortunately this feature is exclusive for Xbox controllers. How it works? Games are using Windows.Gaming.Input API to activate trigger vibrations.

Describe the solution you'd like Since DualSense is able to emulate trigger vibration thanks to DSX settings. Maybe it will be possible to make DSX to read Windows.Gaming.Input API and start haptic feedback when game wants to start vibrations? It will make Impulse Trigger Vibrations less exclusive and make DualSense's features more accessible.

Describe alternatives you've considered No alternatives for DualSense controller. Feature is now exclusively supported by Xbox One/S/X controllers. I think it can be next step on improvements map.

Additional context It will be another reason to install DualSenseX software and vibrating triggers in DualSense will be used in more games.

While that makes sense, the reason I think it won’t work is because if you emulate Xbox 360, the game knows it’s not an Xbox one controller, so they wouldn’t send the impulse triggers, unless they always send it then it makes sense

Ah, that makes sense. So before implementing impulse trigger vibration support, DualSenseX will have to add Xbox One controller emulation before? Then it will be able to read trigger vibration signals which game is sending and emulate them properly. Finally I understand why reWASD has split Xbox360 and Xbox One virtualization. Thanks for clarification. Maybe it's worth to add this point to road map as something to implement in far future, after doing all more important stuff which is easier to implement.

I have not found a way to emulate the Xbox One emulation, once i figure out how, will for sure add it as well as converting the Impulse Triggers to the Vibrate Trigger

Any progress on this?

I have found a comment with good documentation about Impulse Triggers. It may be helpful.
