Nitro AN515-54 partially working

To begin with, DAMX only works with nitrov4, otherwise it doesn't show fan RPMs nor the extra settings Permanent model override doesn't work. Stays on Disabled CPU temp is displayed incorrectly Performance profiles do not appear to have any effect Battery charge limit doesn't work LCD overdrive doesn't seem to do anything The last issue has to do with the main purpose which is Fan speed control and that would require some context to explain what works and doesn't on my Nitro AN515-54 (i7 9750H, GTX1650 with 570.169 drivers):

Deleting windows and installing Linux, I didn't assume something as basic as fan control would be an issue but there it is thanks to Acer's proprietary BS. Prior to finding this, I had NBFC installed and running. It didn't have an AN515-54 config so I was using the 57 one with custom fan tables for supposedly smoother fan management on auto. This was working somewhat ok until I updated the BIOS from v1.01 to v1.33 due to issues with the keyboard backlight. Backlight issue was fixed but to my unpleasant surprise, NBFC was no longer running the show. All the googling and whatnot suggested the new bios has changed the so called EC registers or whatever. End result is that fans are controlled by the bios but furthermore there is some bug where fans would occasionally get stuck at high RPMs even when temps are low.

The fan behavior under DAMX doesn't seem to have changed. I run RotTR bench (the only thing I had at hand), fans ramped up to ~5k for CPU and slightly below for the GPU which was expected. However, closing the game, fans kept staying at those high RPMs regardless of temps no longer requiring that. Trying to use the Manual mode to lower them had no effect, just like with NBFC before. In the case of DAMX, Manual mode only works if I'm setting 100%

NBFC was still installed when I also installed DAMX, lame of me, I know.. I only removed NBFC after. Distro is KDE Neon. Kernel version: 6.14.0-24-generic (64-bit)

Tbf, I'm not holding my breath here but I figured I'll share the feedback anyway.

In retrospect, I'd rather have the perma on keyboard backlight then poor fan control. I guess ultimately in the future I might look for a way to downgrade the bios and just use what was at least somewhat working before but yea...
