Please consider distributing the documentation under CC-BY-SA-3.0
Currently, the documentation may only distributed under "Noncommercial" terms, which makes it mostly impossible to distribute as part of regular Linux distributions, as in general only licenses without restrictions on use are acceptable.
In case the documentation stays NC, please package the documentation and sources in separate tarballs.
I suspect an acceptable workaround might be for Linux distributions to replace all of POV-Ray's doc/html/*
with a single doc/html/index.html
redirecting users to the corresponding version's documentation on the official POV-Ray website. For v3.7.0, that would be http://www.povray.org/documentation/3.7.0/.
Note that v3.7.0 is the latest stable version. A corresponding set of pages will presumably be added as soon as POV-Ray v3.8.0 is finalized.
Linux distributions wishing to provide packages for development versions should link to the documentation section of the POV-Ray Wiki instead: https://wiki.povray.org/content/Documentation:Contents.
