Apple Music becomes unresponsive on newest version
Version Info Apple Music 1.5.4.96 AMWIN-RP US AMWIN-RP-v1.5.1
After a certain period of time (seems variable, unable to reproduce a consistent time period other than "non-instant") the apple music app becomes unresponsive and the user has to close the app and restart it to resume normal use.
Have the symptoms of this bug already been reported in another issue? Not that I am aware of. Reverting to v1.5.0 seems to have fixed the issue.
This is not an isolated case. I have the same problem on my end! Sometimes I can navigate the application for hours and sometimes a song and Apple Music stop responding.
For whatever it's worth, I can reliably get this to happen when I have lyrics displayed. Right now I am listening to my Discovery channel, had lyrics open (whether the song has lyrics or not), and then go do something else. Within a few songs the Apple Music app will become unresponsive. Music will still play so no queues to know it happens or when it happens (I didn't pay attention that closely). But only listened for maybe 15 minutes?
I'm having a lot of trouble reproducing this.
For everyone seeing this issue:
- Are you using the mini player?
- Are you using any virtual desktops?
- If the song has lyrics, are they timed or just plain text?
Not using the mini player Not using any virtual desktops I went from a song that was in my library that had timed lyrics to my Discovery station and the program immediately became unresponsive. If it matters, my Discovery station was playing a song that just had plain text lyrics.
**Just for additional context, I did test this without having AMWin-RP open and had no issues with it becoming unresponsive
To answer the questions:
I never use a mini player, so I don't know if that plays a role...
I don't use a virtual desktop
I had issues with both synced and unsynced lyrics I will try to reproduce the problem if I can
Full text without sync:
t's strange that you can't reproduce the problem... on my end, it happens quite quickly.
I don't know if it will be clear, but I listen to a song with synced lyrics... I skip it... then a song without lyrics, and I tell myself I'm going to skip it because it's not ideal for the test... and I land on a song with full text, and when it appears, it crashes. It takes some time for the Apple Music window to turn white, but I could no longer interact with it as soon as the last song started. Throughout the entire test, the music did not cut out. I'm sending several clips... actually, I'm trying to reproduce the problem with synced lyrics but my Apple Music gave me a song without synced lyrics and it still bugged out, so why not send more?

Actually, I know the bug also happens with synced lyrics, but surprisingly I have more trouble getting the problem to occur...
Case 3 shows it very well... I skip a lot of songs... but as soon as a song with full text comes up... Apple Music stops responding. PS: At one point I stopped on the music, thinking it might play a role in the crash.

Repeating my comments on the other issue:
I have seen this happen but it's very hard to reliably reproduce. My guess is some part of the UI automation code is running extremely long or causing an infinite loop.
I have seen issues in the past with FlaUI hanging on a tree search (and FlaUI has open issues regarding hangs) so that could be a cause. If this is the case then a workaround is to create a custom implementation of the tree searches.
Probably have to just attach a debugger, wait for the issue to happen and break and examine the stack trace.
