@Affenpilot can you confirm my merge commit 235f394 didn't break anything.

However, I'm not quite sure yet if this is a feature that should be introduced into master to avoid confusion on the merchant's side. Maybe you could add a label or info box that the proxy options are for debugging only?

This is not only a debugging function. if your systems runs behind a reverse proxy for example in bigger infrastructures this function shoulb be able to switch on or of.
